Key responsibilities
Facility & Exhibit Maintenance:
The Maintenance Manager is in charge of managing all aspects of facility
maintenance. This includes the museum building, exhibition spaces,
restrooms, oces, storage areas, and any other structures within the
museum's premises. They ensure that the facilities are in good working
condition and comply with safety regulations.
Addressing any repairs or maintenance issues that arise within the museum.
This may include xing broken exhibits, repairing structural damages,
addressing HVAC or lighting problems,electrical,UPS, Fire alarm systems,
Water treatment plants, CCTV, Access Control systems,
transformers,elevators,WLD and managing general wear and tear.
Prociently overseeing installation projects, repairs, and general upkeep of
all assets and facilities owned by the organization.
Preserving and maintaining the museum's exhibits and artifacts is a critical
responsibility. The Maintenance Manager must collaborate with conservationists and curators to implement proper preservation methods,
including climate control, humidity regulation, and security measures.
Developing Maintenance Procedures:
The Manager should be capable of formulating and implementing eective
maintenance procedures and protocols. Standardizing maintenance
practices across the organization helps streamline processes and ensures
consistency in performance.
Developing and implementing standardized maintenance procedures
specic to the museum's unique requirements.   Planning Repair & Maintenance Activities:
The Manager will be responsible for creating comprehensive maintenance
schedules, ensuring regular inspections, and planning repairs or
replacements when necessary. This proactive approach helps prevent major
breakdowns and ensures the organization's assets are always in top
condition.
Managing Team and coordination with other departments:
The Maintenance Manager supervises and coordinates the work of
maintenance sta, including technicians, custodians, and contractors. They
ensure that the team is well-trained and motivated to carry out their duties
eectively.
Collaborate with other departments, such as curatorial and events teams,
to coordinate maintenance tasks around exhibitions, events, and special
programs.   Managing Inventory & Supplies:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the inventory of
supplies, stock, and raw materials used in maintenance activities. This
includes keeping track of consumables like tools, equipment spare parts,
and other materials needed for repairs and upkeep.
The Manager must ensure that inventory levels are maintained appropriately,
avoiding shortages or excessive stockpiling.
Based on the requirements and usage patterns, the Maintenance Manager
will coordinate with relevant suppliers or procurement departments to
place orders for necessary supplies and materials. They must be proactive
in managing the supply chain to ensure the availability of items when
needed.
Maintenance Logs & Reports:
The Maintenance Manager ensures that logs are accurately updated with
information about maintenance activities, repairs, equipment servicing, and
any notable observations during inspections.
Develops checklists for routine maintenance procedures, safety inspections,
and specic maintenance projects. Checklists help in standardizing
processes and ensuring that nothing is overlooked.
Budgeting and Planning:
The Maintenance Manager is involved in budgeting for the department. They
plan and prioritize maintenance projects, ensuring that resources are
allocated appropriately to address urgent needs and conduct routine
maintenance tasks.
By analyzing past maintenance expenses, the Manager can gain insights into
the long-term cost patterns and identify areas where eciencies can be
improved. This data-driven approach helps in making informed decisions
when planning future maintenance budgets.
Sustainability Initiatives:
Museum focuses on sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices.
The Maintenance Manager may be involved in implementing energy-ecient
solutions and promoting sustainable practices within the museum's
maintenance operations.
